The star has handed over the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which works to save the Britain's independent music venues.

He was given the prize on 16 October as his third album his work was named the best record of the last 12 months.

He has chosen to give the cash to the trust, in appreciation of the essential function local spots played in his beginning days.

"As an artist would not have achieved what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the shows I performed around the region, and further afield, when I was beginning," said Sam Fender. "These venues are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – about one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, major artists like Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by including a small levy to their admission fees, which benefits independent venues.

Sam Fender also participated, generating over £100k on his recent tour to assist numerous small stages across the UK.

These funds supported spaces that were confronting potential shutdown due to difficulties arising from flooding, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and noise complaints.

Other venues obtained funding support in modernizing facilities and gear that positively impacted musicians and fans.

"The concept that money from performances in big venues backs the local stages, where it begins for artists like me, is just common sense," the star has commented.

They are one of the many acts who gave their award funds to good causes

He is far from the only musician to give his award winnings to worthy causes.

In the band received the trophy in the mid-90s for their album the album, lead singer the singer announced that the act would contribute their prize money to the charity War Child.

In 2002, musician she split her prize among multiple good causes, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"I also donated a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they required new equipment," the artist shared with the media.

Previously, the band gave their funds to the community center that nurtured their band, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

Also the 1994 recipients M People gave their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was found to have the condition.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," said artist the singer. "The prize was the extra but we didn't need the extra, because we had the main prize. So our success impacted somebody else's life."

In the past week, the trust revealed it had saved a couple of small stages in that region, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The first in that area and the second in Bristol were acquired under the community ownership program, which is backed by the arts council and music fans who purchase "ownership units" in the buildings.
